Subject: Nice sound.
To me this is the one I will download. The sound is the pick of litter. I love a good aud over the boards anyday. I have said this in other reviews. Having been to every show from ventura 82 to summer of 89. EVERYONE I have never been to a show where you couldnt hear the crowd,is why I prefer the aud... This show did not do much for me at the time cause i was ready to head back west by the end of every tour. Now haing said did not do much at the time hmmmmmmm sure does now. Is a SMOKIN show. In away it reminds me of fall tour of 82 great shows night after night. Back in 82 I remember thinking during the New Haven show this is rather lame same as this one till many years later and looking back at how great a show they both were and so many more.
I agree very good Jack Straw and Shakedown. Love the smokestack here and the Black peter. When jerry sounds like he is about to cry during peter I just love it.

As far as the Junkie Jerry stuff who are we to think we are any better. After all we were not angels back in the day either. So lets just take it for what it is THE BEST TOURING BAND EVER EVER EVER. PS I LOVE YOU LITTLE ONE always will jj

Subject: crowd noise
finally, somebody recognizes the importance of the crowd. the may shows of '77 that everybody raves about IMHO are weak because it is much too studioish. check out 4/3/87 from worcester, MA. and you will hear the dead the way it is supposed to be heard.

Subject: Best of the Auds...
...of this show, in my opinion. The others are either too muddy or too tinny, and while I have an appreciation for SBDs, those sound lifeless without the crowd noise. I suspect, but do know know for sure, that the muddy sounding auds are Matrix recordings since the sound from the PA sounds *just like* the SBDs. I might be wrong on that point, but I nevertheless prefer this recording to all of the others.

This is a KILLER show with utterly mind-roasting versions of Bird Song and Jack Straw. The crowed seems to be having a good time, so much so that they are admonished for crushing the folks up front early on in the show. Silly Rabbits lol.

5 stars for performance, and 5 stars for recording. Rare for me.
